Case study

Independent School

Helping a school to review their catering provision and implement a more cost-effective in-house solution.

Independent School

Background

Our client is a co-educational day and boarding (13-18) school who after many years of contracting out its catering decided to provide their own.  Soon after taking this decision they came to the conclusion that they would benefit from specific expertise on a call off basis.

The Challenge

Litmus was engaged to work with the school to support the new catering manager and to achieve the objectives the school had set themselves following exiting from their contracted arrangements.

The Solution

Litmus undertook a complete review of the schools catering and hospitality services, the structure and processes in place, including school-wide consumer insight gathering via our proven Consumer Satisfaction Analysis programme (CSA).

The Results

  • Five key areas of the service were identified as priorities on which to focus attention to drive improvement:
  • Refurbishment of Dining Hall undertaken to transform it into a energetic and vibrant area
  • Litmus retained to carry out a yearly consumer satisfaction analysis programme to assist the school in increasing standards and ensuring their maintenance into the future
  • Costs reduced due to appropriate food procurement channels put in place on behalf of the school
  • Litmus retained to assist in personnel recruitment and to provide ongoing support to the catering manager

I was delighted with the opportunity provided by this independent, objective and quantifiable analysis, to focus on the issues that mattered to the customer...
